  She does go on sometimes!

  Don't be ridiculous! You can't pay £50 for a T-shirt!

I’d like to talk about the time I had to be polite to my father’s business partner.

They ate and drank a ridiculous amount.

This uncle likes to drink a lot, but I’m not saying he’s an alcoholic, ‘cause my father will never do business with alcoholics. What I’m saying is, he always behaves badly after he gets drunk, for example, he often goes on and on about his achievements in the past, which is really annoying. And the worst part is, he talks really loudly, and sometimes, when he’s really happy, he even jumps onto the table and starts to dance. That’s super embarrassing, you know. I don’t like him that much, ‘cause I don’t think he’s professional or serious enough. However, he’s my father’s business partner, so I have to show him some respect and be polite every time I meet him.

eat out = to have a meal in a restaurant, etc. rather than at home例如:

They rose to applaud the speaker.

She was applauded as she came on stage.

I really hope I don’t need to have dinner with him again.

go on and on about something / somebody = (informal) to talk about somebody / something for a long time, especially in a boring or complaining way例如:

  编辑推荐:

One day, my father invited him to my home, to have dinner together. My mom prepared lots of dishes for us. And not surprisingly, he got drunk again. This time, he did something even more ridiculous. He started to sing loudly, I felt all of my neighbors could hear him. I felt so embarrassed sitting next to him, but I didn’t say anything, I even applaud him, just to be nice, you know.

雅思口语里一个最近的话题问describe a situation when you had to be polite。

ridiculous = very silly or unreasonable例如:

  如果把吃饭地点换一下,换成这位叔叔到你家来吃饭,那他就是你家的“访客”啦:

bare = not covered by any clothes例如:

applaud = to show your approval of somebody / something by clapping your hands例如:

结尾可以是:I hope that was the last time he came to my home.

One day, he invited me and my father to eat out in a restaurant. And not surprisingly, he got drunk again. This time, he did something even more ridiculous. In order to prove how powerful and tough he was, he found a brick and tried to break it in half with his bare hand. I felt so embarrassed sitting next to him, but I didn’t say anything, I even applaud him, just to be polite, you know.

I’d like to talk about the time my father’s business partner visited my home.
